Tarbush Restaurant, Bangsar Shopping Centre - Tasty but expect to pay more due to fine dining experience

The Tarbush Arabian Restaurant in Bangsar Shopping Centre is a good place to sample Arabian food. Tasty and very filling. However, do note that this is also a fine dining establishment. You are expected to see it priced into the menu.

Another interesting aspect is the ability to smoke shisha inside the restaurant. I always though it is against the law for smoking in air-conditioned places.

Found a new restaurant in Putrajaya: The Equestrian Park cafe - Mangiamo

Found another nice restaurant in Putrajaya. Called Mangiamo Cafe, it is situated in the main building at the Putrajaya Equestrian Park complex. Not that fancy but it has both local and western fare, air-conditioned and cheap. Moreover, not that busy.

The joke is whether the steak is horse meat or beef!! Definitely beef.

Lots of choices.

Sirloin steak for just RM25!

 Fresh juices for just RM5!

Do visit. No complaints from me.

A cute little coffee house: Coffee Creations in TTDI

A friend of mine opened a small coffee house in TTDI. Called Coffee Creations, it specialises in some local as well as western dishes. The drawing that you see on one side of the shop is done by him and his kids.

Impress with the art piece.

This is what they have on offer.

Birthday lunch at GASTRO SENTRAL, Le Meridian Kuala Lumpur

The gang to me on my birthday to GASTRO SENTRAL, a trendy cafe in Le Meridian Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. I like the ambiance.

The food presentation is also refreshing and surprisingly priced below expectation.

I was told in the evening there's live music.

Simply D Cafe by Delicious at Nu Sentral, Kuala Lumpur

Part of the Delicious Group of restaurants, Simply D provides more the cheaper comfort food in a slightly more elegant environment. The branch in NU Sentral in not big.

The use of bright colors does provide a more refreshing ambiance.

The food is fair for the price charged.

Like all 21 century eateries, the use of social media to get their brand out to the public is one of its main promotional strategies. Below is one such strategy it adopted.

Everly Hotel Putrajaya - for a late supper

Not had the opportunity to try out the food in this hotel. So, one evening we tried to have something at its main restaurant quite late in the evening. When we got to our seat the place was practically empty.

Nevertheless, the decor is bright and lively.

I ordered an oxtail soup that comes standard with a plate of rice and condiments. Originally I wanted this as a starter but turned out it became my main meal. Satisfying though. The price is not bad as well.

Company Trip to Surabaya, Indonesia - Part 04 - The scene around the hotel and the Grand City Mall (plus dinner)

See previous posting.

If you face the entrance of the hotel and turn to the left, just above the ground floor is a plaque commemorating the event that spark the Indonesian Revolution. It is here that Surabayans climbed up to the roof to tear down the Dutch flag and hoisted the Republic of Indonesia flag.

Looking out to the street from the entrance of the hotel you can see the main service centre for the Seiko Watch Group (which also includes Alba).

Traffic is really bad. Good thing there are pedestrian crossings at strategic spots on the roads.

A Seiko Clock Tower.

By evening, I happened to come across the Grand City Mall. A huge mall filled with high-end brands. Surabaya is the second largest city and historically, there are a lot of monied people here.

What I find interesting about this mall is that they provide tram service disguised as a train on the floors!

By this time I was hungry and I decided to try this steak joint. The steak was just so-so.

USA Trip 2013: Part 7.4 - Dinner at the famous Cheesecake Factory

[Please refer to the previous postings]

On the way back from Sea World, we decided to ask the bus driver to drop us to a famous restaurant close to our hotel called the Cheesecake Factory. Something similar to Chili's or TGIF but focused on cakes with a slightly more refine dress code for their staff. Food is American with some Mexican influences. Enjoyed the food immensely. When its all finish, we went for a 30 minute walk back to the hotel in lovely cooling weather.

USA Trip 2013: Part 6.4 - Proper restaurant dinner for the first time

[Please refer to the previous postings]

It was only on the 6th day of our trip to the US that we had a proper sitting down dinner in a restaurant. After arriving at the hotel late in the evening from Universal Studios, we decided to try out the hotel's coffee house. Concept is like any American restaurant chains in Kuala Lumpur i.e. Chili's, TGIF etc. kids eat free and bottomless fountain drinks etc.

Only different is the portions. American portions are enormous!!!

USA Trip 2013: Part 5.1 - Breakfast at a typical American diner

[See previous postings]

Our friends had to go back to Los Vegas today. They invited us to try out a typical American breakfast at this place cal IHOP (iInternational House of Pancakes). We went to the car park of the hotel to get to their cars. Guess what I saw there, a Shelby GT500 Mustang Cobra!!

What a cool muscle car.

It was a downcast day.

At the diner we waited for them to prepare our table.

Our friends. There were lots of things on the menu, even steak!!!

My eldest taking photos.

There was a roving balloon man. Very artistic.

He could even make Ariel.

...and a bike.........

..............as well as Goofy................

His tip is expensive though....
