List of speed cameras currently in operations in Malaysia under the AES programme
There is a reason why there are laws for road users. To enforce the rule of law, the AES programme was set up to capture users that broke the law. To remind people to be mindful of their collective responsibilities on the road, I have uploaded the location of the current set of AES systems that have been installed thus far.
If you keep to the rule of law, you do not need to worry!
Keep safe on the road and ALWAYS follow the rules!!!

Ramadan 2012
Wishes everyone a blessed Ramadan month!

A short introduction on Ramandan found on the net:
"Ramadan (also known as Ramadhan or Ramzan) is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity-giving and self-accountability for Muslims. The first verses of the Koran (Qu’ran) were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during the last third of Ramadan, making this an especially holy period.
Fasting during Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It is a time of self-examination and increased religious devotion. It is common to have a pre-fast meal (suhoor) before sunrise and an evening meal (iftar) after sunset during Ramadan. Some groups of people, including the chronically ill, mentally challenged, and the elderly who cannot participate due to health reasons, are exempt from fasting. It is also not allowed to have sexual relations or smoke during the day.
Ramadan is also a time for many Muslims to donate to charity by participating in food drives for the poor, organizing a collection or charity event, and other voluntary activities. They are also encouraged to read the Qur’an often during Ramadan. Muslim men recite the entire Qur’an by the end of Ramadan through special prayers known as Tarawih, which are held in the mosques every night of the month, during which a section of the Qur’an is recited."

Photos of a family society in Malaysia - Zurimas's 6th Annual General Meeting
On Sunday, the family society, ZURIMAS held its 6th AGM at a hall in University Malaya. Well over 72 members took park in the event.

Below is a picture of the Committee members on stage. Behind them is loads of gift for the highly anticipated lucky draw event at the end of the meeting.

The Secretary making his speech.

The Patriarch of the family making his speech.

Some of the members.

Presentation of academic excellence awards to deserving members.

Winners of the academic awards for various public exams. Cash and plaque were given as incentives.

The golf competition winners.

The whole event ended with a simple "tahlil" prayer to family members that have passed on as well as to pray for the well-being of those still living.

Trial by media - US soldier face muder charges over Afghan massacre - there is always justification
I have been following the case about the US soldier that went on the rampage in Afghanistan. Even before it goes to trial, the Western media has started to influence the public as well as possibly the outcome of the trial by insinuating mental problems/stress/PTSD/ungratefulness of the Afghans etc. i.e. anything that could justify the murder of 17 people.
Let's not come to a conclusion based on hearsay and innuendos. Let the courts judge the accuse in a fair way. Below is a typical account of the incident by the BBC.
------------------------------------------
Robert Bales to face murder charges over Afghan massacre (by BBC)
See: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-17484186
(excerpts):...A US soldier suspected of killing civilians in Afghanistan will be charged with 17 counts of murder, US officials have told the BBC.
Staff Sgt Robert Bales is accused of attacking the villagers in their homes in Kandahar province on 11 March. Most victims were women and children.
Sgt Bales, 38, was later moved to a military prison in the US after being transported from Afghanistan to Kuwait.
He could face the death penalty if convicted.
'No evidence'
Sgt Bales would also be charged with six counts of assault and attempted murder, a US official told the BBC.
The soldier is the only known suspect in the killings - despite repeated Afghan assertions that more than one American was involved.
He is being held in solitary confinement at a military detention centre in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
His lawyer, who has played down reports that his client was drunk on the night of the killings, said earlier this week he remembers "very little" of the incident.
John Henry Brown also said there was "no forensic evidence" against Staff Sgt Robert Bales and "no confession".
The case has undermined US relations with Kabul and led to calls for Nato to speed up its planned withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
Sgt Bales' trial could take years, contrasting with Afghan demands for swift and decisive justice.
The Taliban called off peace talks in the wake of the deadly rampage......

After 20 years, wearing jeans again
I used to have a pair of jeans while I was in UK. After 5 years of brutal treatment, it had to be put down as holes started appearing. I love that pants and since then i.e. 1992, I have not investing in one .
Well, last week I did it. I went to Marks & Spencer KLCC and got one. Wearing it right now. Exactly 20 year since the last time.
My kids told me that I don't look like a middle age hipster - they could just be being nice.

My birthday gifts
When I got back home, I was presented not one but four (4) separate gifts from my wife (1), son (1), eldest daughter (1) and younger daughter (1).
The first that I opened was from my son. The biggest wrapped item out of the four. When I opened it, it was a table foosball set!
The second present that I opened was from my eldest daughter. Something soft. It was a pajama! The last time I wore a real pajama must be more than 10 years ago.
The third present that I opened was the smallest one and it came from the younger daughter. It was a handmade card with a RM5 stuck to it! Trust Farah to think of such a gift.
The final gift was the heaviest. It comes from my wife. When I opened it it was a big cast-iron plate to put on a stove to grill/barbeque meat. Now I can grill and barbeque anytime in-doors.
Truly appreciate all the gifts from them.

Canada to withdraw from Kyoto Protocol - something that has been expected for a long time
I saw this news today. My first impression is disappointment. Then I realized that this is not unexpected. Self-interest will always supersede common sense. This has been going on since the dawn of history and every nation values self-interest above everything else.
Developed nations always want to control the initiative for everything but when it comes to hard decisions which would mean a larger sacrifice on their part, they will run away. Canada decided to go on this path, I bet America and Europe will follow soon.
---------------------------------------------
BBC News: Canada will formally withdraw from the Kyoto Protocol on climate change, the minister of the environment has said.
Peter Kent said the protocol "does not represent a way forward for Canada" and the country would face crippling fines for failing to meet its targets.
The move, which is legal and was expected, makes it the first nation to pull out of the global treaty.
The protocol, initially adopted in Kyoto, Japan, in 1997, is aimed at fighting global warming.
"Kyoto, for Canada, is in the past, and as such we are invoking our legal right to withdraw from Kyoto," Mr Kent said in Toronto.

My 7th cheque payment from Nuffnang
In my earlier posting (Latest payment from Nuffnang) I mentioned about the latest cheque that I got from Nuffnang. Actually, when I made that entry, it was using my handphone. Hence, I was unable to provide more information about the cheque.
This is my seventh (7) cheque from Nuffnang. Totalling RM194.61, it is the largest amount that I ever got from them. I am so happy. Even now, I note that I am entitled to claim for another cheque but best to keep it to a big amount. It makes the experience sweeter.

In support of the UPSR exams
My eldest daughter is currently sitting for her UPSR exams. Unfortunately, my second daughter got 3 days of holidays which forces me to take 3 half-day leave just to take care of her. Anyway, got the opportunity to do a number of stuff while babysitting.
