The 2015 Company trip to Tanjung Rhu, Langkawi, Kedah - Beach, sea, sand and food galore

This year, we decided to go, as a company, to Tanjung Rhu Resort in Langkawi, Kedah. This destination has been our first official company trip back in 2011. Luckily there happened to be a long 3-day weekend during the Merdeka period for the whole company to make the trip without the need to break the event into two sessions. For risk management purposes, the company was split into two flights, an hour difference.

We flew by MAS and for some of us, we decided to start the journey at KL Sentral via the ERL. This also gives us the opportunity to check in our luggage and get our boarding pass at the station itself. On the outward bound part, I had one bag in the cargo (with another bag in that bag) hold. This is anticipate the stuff I could buy in Langkawi.

It is 7:23 am in the morning and the train should be by the platform in 5 minutes time.

After an uneventful flight, the resort arranged a van to pick up the first batch.

Since this holiday is going to be a food heaven, I weigh myself prior to going 'food-crazy'.

My room and bed.

The resort is very quiet and extreme low density. Hence why we like it. Here is a picture I tool of the family pool from the pool cafe area.

Lovely weather. Can't wait to hit the beach after lunch.

On the beach with a pair of sunglasses.

Miles of empty beach.

Sunset....just beautiful.

Low tide and you can walk on a sand bank.

Company dinner.

After 3 days and 2 nights, it was time to go home. On the second day, I went to Kuah town for chocolate shopping. The stuff I bought required two bags to be put inside the cargo bay for the trip back.

Enjoyed the experience of the resort.

Langkawi Holiday, November 2013 - 11 - Going home

Please refer to the previous postings.

It was a wonderful local holiday. We enjoyed it immensely. But reality beckons and we have to make our way back home. Here we are waiting at the airport to board the plane.

Our MAS plane being readied for the trip back to Kuala Lumpur.

Until the next time!

Langkawi Holiday, November 2013 - 10 - Jungle walk

Please refer to the previous postings.

Our final day in Tanjung Rhu. One final activity to do before heading back for home. First things first - breakfast. As usual, we are practically the only people out and about.

The beach is deserted.

My son taking a selfie of himself.

The activity after breakfast is the jungle walk organised by the resort itself. Tour was conducted by Mr Fendi, a well know character in the resort. There were nine of us, a couple from Britain, a mom and daughter from China and us.

We need to go on a boat to where the tour starts. At this moment there was a slight drizzle.

It was a nice 2 hour walk in the jungle. Though it was raining and we were wet, we still enjoyed the experience. At the end, we came upon this hut where there is a natural well in the centre. Here we had our picnic courtesy of the resort.

The interesting part of all this is that we did it all withing the resort's vast property of a few hundred hectares.

Eating time...

To be continued.

Langkawi Holiday, November 2013 - 03 - After breakfast we went fishing

Please refer to the previous postings.

After a good breakfast on the second day, we took out a boat to go fishing.

Everyone is excited to go fishing for the first time.

At the water sports centre, we registered and waited for the boat to take us fishing.

All on board!

We tried trolling for barracudas (trailing a line and hook on the side of a moving boat) but after 20 minutes nothing. So the Captain decided that we should go bottom fishing near corals. Here we started to catch fish one after another. It was awesome.

Below is the first fish my son ever caught. A big one at that.

A wife too got a few from her line.

He was please with that!

She was grinning with joy!

I too caught a few but small ones. Number 1.

Number 2.

Number 3.

My daughter also caught one.

Number 4.

A game of patience.

My daughter falling asleep.

Enjoying the moment.

The weather was brilliant and the sea conditions were near perfect.

Waiting, waiting....

Rock face of one of the many small islands near Langkawi.

After a few hours, people starting to get tired.

My son was still perky.

Moving slowly near the rocks to see whether we can get some fish there.

We can see a schools of small fishes swimming around.

A typical rocky outcrop of an island.

She originally didn't want to participate but she actually enjoyed it.

Full concentration on the controls.

Wifey also waiting silently for a tug on the line.

End of the day. Relaxing time.

My son catching some sun.

Our catch. Some of the 13 fishes on a line.

Family photo with the catch.

Final shot.

Heading home.

Fish deep fried and dipping sauce. Yummm.

To be continued.
