USA Trip 2013: Part 6.3 - Other rides in Universal Studios, California

[Please refer to the previous postings]

After the relatively long Backlot Studio Tour, we went around the park enjoying the sunshine, sights and sounds of Universal Studios, California. Like Disneyland, there are cartoon characters associated with Universal Studios - my kids taking a photo with the hero of 'The American Tail'.

Lovely day and not much crowd. A perfect day.

The first ride must be the Transformers 3D Ride. No queue at all!

The lack of queue allowed us to stop and look all the interesting stuff they have along the queuing line to break the boredom of the queue.

The ride was awesome! We went through it 3 times!!!

Bonus point was the chance to take pictures with actual moving Transformers. Here is a picture with Bumblebee.

The next ride was Jurassic Park.

Although the sign says 10 minutes but in reality, it takes that long to just walk to the start of the ride as it was far away from that point. Again no queue.

When I was here 17 years ago, the was still in the midst of planning and building this ride. Then it was said that its the ride that has a 6 floor drop at the end of the ride. Although we were warned that it would get wet, we didn't prepare as such. Sure enough, we got soaked! It was so bad that we had to buy a pair of pants for the girls to change into.

For this ride, bring along rain coats!!! We didn't go for a second round....

Like all rides, it had to end inside a shop.....

From the main square, you can see the escalator that connects the valley and the top of the hill where we entered the park. In the valley floor, here is where all the main attractions are housed.

Another ride that is very intense is the Revenge of the Mummy Ride. Unfortunately, my son was not allowed to go on it due to height issues. So we took turns, the girls and I in the first batch, my wife and the girls for round two.

Some of the props..

After going on a few aggressive rides, we went to a stage performance on how FX is being used to make movies. Very entertaining.

Shrek the 4D experience is a movie experience.

Nickelodeon is another brand under the Universal Studios group.

Universal House of Horrors is a haunted house where you have to walk through and people in costumes will try to scare you. Very old school and intense. I like it.

The Simpsons.

Another ride called Krustyland - again, queue-less.

The kids with the Simpson kids.

The original capsule used in Apollo 13.

In Universal Studios' museum.

Transformers' quartz watch.

The kids next to the sign. I think I took a similar picture but with just me and my wife 17 years ago. The next set of pictures were taken outside the park.

My son at the controls of the Double-Decker bus. Courtesy of the bus driver as we wait for the other passengers to arrive.

I suddenly noticed a Toyota Prius taxi. Can a Prius take such a punishing work load? Interesting.

To be continued.
