Went for a seminar in Westin Langkawi. With IMD lecturers.

Took a MAS flight to Langkawi. The journey started in KL Sentral.

Waiting for the word to board the plane.

Flight was only 50 minutes and Westin got a car to pick me up from the airport. Approximately 25 minutes later, I got my room.

Quite luxurious.

A waste though as I will be locked up in a seminar room most of the time.

All this for just one person.

I was made to understand that this was originally Sheraton.

Some modern and old fittings.

The view outside my room (there is also a porch) is beautiful.

There resort has a vast compound and the vegetation is well kept.

At the end of the first day, a sunset cruise was organised. We went on a large yacht out of the Langkawi Yacht Club boating facility.

Sat in front of the boat. Selfie!

The boat is about to pull away from the pier.

The weather was nice and got o enjoy the sunset. We also had dinner on the boat although most of us didn't eat much (don't want to get sick as the boat was rolling while anchored in the middle of the sea).

Next morning after breakfast and before the start of the seminar got a chance to take a picture of one of the pools in the resort.

The seminar is full swing.

The second pool in the resort.

The beach here is not that nice.

The day before heading home. Final shot of the resort.

Going into the departure hall.

The end.

(Continuation. Please refer to the end of the report for links to the previous parts).

Time to go back. Enjoyed the place and the company of friends and colleagues.

Took the boat to go the mainland.

Crazy pose.

Arrived at lumut and immediately took the bus to our last part of the agenda, a good seafood lunch. It was already past 3 pm and we are very hungry.

Beach bum.

Seafood galore!!

End.

The 2014 Annual Company Trip - Destination: YTL Pangkor Laut Resort - Sunset cruise - Part 5

(Continuation. Please refer to the end of the report for links to the previous parts).

That evening, I went for the sunset cruise on a special boat with a few of my colleagues. The boat was designed junk-style but powered with engine. An all wooden construction. The guests waited at the jetty for the cruise to start.

My colleagues trying out the 'Titanic' pose (sort of).

When we got on board, we quickly stationed ourselves at the bow of the boat. A group selfie....

We passed the Chinese restaurant.

Another restaurant, fine dining.

The setting sun, the reason behind this cruise. Lovely weather and we are able to enjoy it immensely.

Just beautiful. I can retire here.

The protective cove where it is safe to swim. The resort has ringed this cove with nets to protect swimmers from motor boats as aggressive fish (aka sharks).

Tomorrow night, this whole beach will be ours to enjoy for a night of food and drinks.

Our host giving his explanation about the island.

The sun about to set.

A selfie with the setting sun.

Some of the crew which served us excellently.

To be continued.

Langkawi Holiday, November 2013 - 10 - Jungle walk

Please refer to the previous postings.

Our final day in Tanjung Rhu. One final activity to do before heading back for home. First things first - breakfast. As usual, we are practically the only people out and about.

The beach is deserted.

My son taking a selfie of himself.

The activity after breakfast is the jungle walk organised by the resort itself. Tour was conducted by Mr Fendi, a well know character in the resort. There were nine of us, a couple from Britain, a mom and daughter from China and us.

We need to go on a boat to where the tour starts. At this moment there was a slight drizzle.

It was a nice 2 hour walk in the jungle. Though it was raining and we were wet, we still enjoyed the experience. At the end, we came upon this hut where there is a natural well in the centre. Here we had our picnic courtesy of the resort.

The interesting part of all this is that we did it all withing the resort's vast property of a few hundred hectares.

Eating time...

Langkawi Holiday, November 2013 - 03 - After breakfast we went fishing

Please refer to the previous postings.

After a good breakfast on the second day, we took out a boat to go fishing.

Everyone is excited to go fishing for the first time.

At the water sports centre, we registered and waited for the boat to take us fishing.

All on board!

We tried trolling for barracudas (trailing a line and hook on the side of a moving boat) but after 20 minutes nothing. So the Captain decided that we should go bottom fishing near corals. Here we started to catch fish one after another. It was awesome.

Below is the first fish my son ever caught. A big one at that.

A wife too got a few from her line.

He was please with that!

She was grinning with joy!

I too caught a few but small ones. Number 1.

Number 2.

Number 3.

My daughter also caught one.

Number 4.

A game of patience.

My daughter falling asleep.

Enjoying the moment.

The weather was brilliant and the sea conditions were near perfect.

Waiting, waiting....

Rock face of one of the many small islands near Langkawi.

After a few hours, people starting to get tired.

My son was still perky.

Moving slowly near the rocks to see whether we can get some fish there.

We can see a schools of small fishes swimming around.

A typical rocky outcrop of an island.

She originally didn't want to participate but she actually enjoyed it.

Full concentration on the controls.

Wifey also waiting silently for a tug on the line.

End of the day. Relaxing time.

My son catching some sun.

Our catch. Some of the 13 fishes on a line.

Family photo with the catch.

Final shot.

Heading home.

Fish deep fried and dipping sauce. Yummm.
