Shape Night Run 2015 Putrajaya - Participated in the 11.2 km
Last Saturday, 11 April 2015, I took part in the Shape Night Run 2015 in Putrajaya. I participated in the competitive 11.2 km run under the Junior Veteran category.
My wife took part in the fun 5 km run.
Unfortunately, the weather was pouring with rain, thunder and lightning.
All the competitors had to find shelter while waiting for the flag off. Unfortunately, the 8:00 pm flag off was postponed to wait for the weather to clear.
We actually had to wait for an additional 45 minutes before the organisers allowed to run to proceed. The new time was 8:45 pm.
All the runners heading to the starting point.
...waiting for the flag-off....here we go!!!
The was some drizzling and lightning show but the run went on uneventfully. I finished the line 1:46 hours using my own timing (still waiting to get my official timing from the organisers).
As usual, after the race we received our freebies as well as a medal.
Happy to complete the event still standing up....
Selfie with medal.
People were still streaming in .....
My official bib with the RFID chip imbedded.
The medal.
The distance.
I used the RUNTASTIC program to track my progress.

Jump Street, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia - trampoline park
Over the weekend, my second daughter had a birthday party invitation to this place called Jump Street near Jaya One in Petaling Jaya. We have not been there before so we decided to go as a family. After dropping off my daughter to the party, I then registered my other two kids for one hour.
This place is a big trampoline park where there are literally dozens of trampolines of many designs where one can jump and do all kind of fun stuff. Situated in a very large warehouse, similar to a jungle gym concept. However, in this case adults also can take part.
There is also a cafe where you can eat and what people do somersaults.
It was full of people.

Got myself a Nordictrack T1 Treadmill as a gift for my birthday
My old treadmill has died. Did a lot of miles on her but it is time to buy a new one. So I went to Fitness Concept and browsed around. Found this particular model from Nordictrack, the T1 with the product code SKU: NTA-T917. It costs RM7,990 retail but got some sweet discounts for it.
Got a special Chinese New Year discount as well as a trade-in for the old treadmill.
This new machine allows one to adjust the speed and the incline with quick-touch in handle controls. The run surface is a large 20" x 60" treadbelt at speeds of up to 22 km/h while the Intermix Acoustics 3.0 system enables listening to music. It also comes with the 3.0 CHP DurX™ Commercial Plus Motor that allows one to run faster for longer. An auto-breeze dual speed CoolAire workout fan keeps users cool during workouts.
QuadFlex cushioning offers protection and comfort whilst running. Four sets of cushioning reduce impact on your joints with this air-based, shock cushioning system on this extra-long treadbelt, relieving pressure on knees and back.
Below is a brochure on the product.
I can't wait to get it this weekend.

Christmas Day 2013 around Putrajaya - Presint 5, Lakeside, Heriot-Watt University and Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC)
On Christmas Day, we decided to take a long walk around the lake near Presint 5 and the PICC. We drove to the Water Sports Complex and park our car there and started to walk. The time was 11:20 am.
Along the lake we saw a group of tall buildings on Presint 2. These are the only tall office buildings in Putrajaya. In the background you can also see one of the many ornate bridges over the lake.
A very quiet morning, only we were on the esplanade. Another ornate bridge in the background.
We then pass the Heriot-Watt Campus that is still under construction. This is the first university in Putrajaya and its foreign!
We then came across a pedestrian bridge over an artificial waterfall. Note the width of the esplanade.
By then we were closer to the tall buildings which I highlighted earlier.
Off to cross the unique looking bridge. It looks like it connects to the other side of the lake.
A set of piers can be seen for boats to dock.
Unfortunately, we were not allowed to cross the bridge due to security issues. A real pity. Anyway, we are allowed to walk down the bridge. Here you can see the artificial waterfall.
The waterfall has been designed to look like gear teeth. The drop in height is about 3 meters.
Below is a video of the dam and waterfall.
The very large cable anchor sunk into the ground to keep the bridge standing.
Below the waterfall, a more jungle-like or more natural atmosphere can be seen.
The pedestrian crossing is very wide and could take on a lot of people.
The kids taking time-out on the green slope.
We then walked towards PICC. We climbed a steep winding access road and as we progress, the view started to get really beautiful. I took the picture below on top of the official helipad of PICC.
The place was open and we walked in. We didn't see anyone so we decided to go on a tour of the whole convention centre. Below is the picture of the main convention hall.
It was just us. Nice.
The galaxy-like design of the main lights was done to associate it with the fact that this huge room is called a 'Planetarium'.
The gang.
The view from PICC.
The huge empty corridors.
After the self-tour, we walked down. But this time we use a different route. There is a walking path that snakes down the steep slope.
My kids.
About 1:47:49 hours later we ended our walk. We traveled 6.48 km (using GPS) and burned 587 calories. Our average speed was 3.60 kph and our elevation gain/loss 176 m.
