The 2014 Annual Company Trip - Destination: YTL Pangkor Laut Resort - Dinner at the famous Uncle Lim Chinese Restaurant - Part 6

(Continuation. Please refer to the end of the report for links to the previous parts).

In the evening, we had a meal at the iconic Uncle Lim Chinese Restaurant. This guy has been a chef at this restaurant since the very beginning.

The style of cooking is very eclectic. Fusion of Penang, Malay and a lot more in between. The bottom line is it taste good.

When we were there, we also met the famous food blogger, Kampung Boy and City Girl.

The picture with Uncle Lim.

To be continued.

The 2014 Annual Company Trip - Destination: YTL Pangkor Laut Resort - Sunset cruise - Part 5

(Continuation. Please refer to the end of the report for links to the previous parts).

That evening, I went for the sunset cruise on a special boat with a few of my colleagues. The boat was designed junk-style but powered with engine. An all wooden construction. The guests waited at the jetty for the cruise to start.

My colleagues trying out the 'Titanic' pose (sort of).

When we got on board, we quickly stationed ourselves at the bow of the boat. A group selfie....

We passed the Chinese restaurant.

Another restaurant, fine dining.

The setting sun, the reason behind this cruise. Lovely weather and we are able to enjoy it immensely.

Just beautiful. I can retire here.

The protective cove where it is safe to swim. The resort has ringed this cove with nets to protect swimmers from motor boats as aggressive fish (aka sharks).

Tomorrow night, this whole beach will be ours to enjoy for a night of food and drinks.

Our host giving his explanation about the island.

The sun about to set.

A selfie with the setting sun.

Some of the crew which served us excellently.

The 2014 Annual Company Trip - Destination: YTL Pangkor Laut Resort - Gym and other common areas - Part 4

(Continuation. Please refer to the end of the report for links to the previous parts).

After checking into our room we started to explore the resort. The first stop was the gym.

Situated on a standalone two-storey bungalow, the gym is opened 24 hours a day. Although it is complete in terms of equipment, the machines are old. The second level houses a TV lounge.

The beach fronting the resort looks very pristine. Certain section of the waterfront consists of stone steps, as seen below. Despite the pristine nature, this part of the beach is red flagged for guests. The presence of sea urchins makes it dangerous.

The beach allocated for swimmers is at the other end of the island.

In the following photograph, you can see the sea villas.

My room number when I was there...

Selfie at the lobby.

From my vintage point at the lobby, I can see other islands as well as the pier.

The 2014 Annual Company Trip - Destination: YTL Pangkor Laut Resort - The hilltop villas - Part 3

(Continuation. Please refer to the end of the report for links to the previous parts).

The room that was allocated to me was the Hillview unit, set high up the hill. To get there takes some climbing. As you can see from the photo below, the units are next close and personal with the jungle.

Note the steep step from the ground to our unit.

This is really 'living with nature' as advertised.

Since the jungle is very close to the units, walking back at night could be a scary affair since you don't know what type of animals could be lurking on the trees etc.

The room is very opulent with rich looking furniture and linen. The decor is very local village style with a touch of Bali stone work here and there. This is one of the few rooms in the resort with single beds.

There is even a futon in the room.

The bathroom is even bigger than the bedroom. It consist of two sets of sinks (left).....

...(right)....

A toilet cubicle on the left and a shower cubicle on the right. The main attraction of the bathroom is the hand-built bathtub that can fit two. What is more interesting is the fact that this area is visually open to the jungle.

Private WC.

Like the rain shower head.

The view from the room. Awesome.

My room-mate. The balcony is enormous there's two lounge chairs to relax on.

The other hilltop villas.

The 2014 Annual Company Trip - Destination: YTL Pangkor Laut Resort - The boat ride and lunch - Part 2

A small high-end high speed tender was allocated to us as well as a couple of other guests to make the trip to the resort. We headed down to the pier to board the boat.

We saw some bigger yachts owned by the YTL Group moored in the marina as well.

Got the chance to seat upfront. In front of us are the two wooden boats (junk style) owned by YTL that caters for special charters.

The team all decked in bright orange life-vests. Happy and raring to go.

My roommate Hafees and I.

Took us only 15 minutes on the boat before we arrived on the YTL island. The weather was perfect.

The jetty at the resort. Millions of anchovies swimming under the pier.

From this vantage point you can see the resort's Hill View Villas.

...the Water Villas...

The resort has a 'Kampung' style look to it. High roof and wood everywhere. Having our welcoming drinks.

We were then asked to wait at the library area for a short briefing. The lanterns on the ceiling is really mesmerizing. The library also doubles as a business center and there's free WiFi.

Like all Generation-Ys and beyond, instead of taking in all the new sights, sounds and swells they prefer the web......

For me, I found a bed and made it my resting place.

This was a picture that someone took of me and sent via Whatsapp.

With a fan whirling, I felt so comfortable that I nearly fell a sleep before the start of the briefing.

After briefing us about the resort and what it has to offer, we were directed to a restaurant beside the pool for our lunch. A nuvo-cuisine style restaurant. Food's not that great and the time to wait is ridiculously long.
