The 2014 Annual Company Trip - Destination: YTL Pangkor Laut Resort - Sunset cruise - Part 5

That evening, I went for the sunset cruise on a special boat with a few of my colleagues. The boat was designed junk-style but powered with engine. An all wooden construction. The guests waited at the jetty for the cruise to start.

When we got on board, we quickly stationed ourselves at the bow of the boat. A group selfie....

The setting sun, the reason behind this cruise. Lovely weather and we are able to enjoy it immensely.

Just beautiful. I can retire here.

The protective cove where it is safe to swim. The resort has ringed this cove with nets to protect swimmers from motor boats as aggressive fish (aka sharks).

Tomorrow night, this whole beach will be ours to enjoy for a night of food and drinks.

After checking into our room we started to explore the resort. The first stop was the gym.

Situated on a standalone two-storey bungalow, the gym is opened 24 hours a day. Although it is complete in terms of equipment, the machines are old. The second level houses a TV lounge.

The beach fronting the resort looks very pristine. Certain section of the waterfront consists of stone steps, as seen below. Despite the pristine nature, this part of the beach is red flagged for guests. The presence of sea urchins makes it dangerous.

The beach allocated for swimmers is at the other end of the island.

Someone sent me this photo of the flooding at Jalan Semantan/Jalan Duta a couple of weeks ago. A Mercedes C-class was dead in the water.

Going to a restaurant in Selangor when there is no water

Yesterday, I was in Ampang, Selangor in the evening. Decided to have dinner at Nando's. Unfortunately, there wasn't any water into the establishment. Food was served with disposable cutlery and plates. Wet Ones were used throughout the dinner to wash our hands.

I pity the business people in Selangor having to face such a preventable problem.

Langkawi Holiday, November 2013 - 06 - Telaga Tujuh or Seven Wells Recreation Park, Langkawi

After the Handicraft Center, we went to this recreational area called Telaga Tujuh or Seven Wells Recreation Park. It is said that, fairies used to/currently swim at these wells.

Below is the welcoming billboard and the map up to the wells.

This plaque explains the story behind the seven wells.

To climb up the the hill does get some use to. It all steps up. Takes about 20 minutes just to climb the steps.

It was worth the effort. The view was breathtaking.

At the edge of the stone cliff, the water from the wells becomes a waterfall.

From this point, it is dangerous to continue forward. There is a cable barrier that the authorities put up to stop people from accidentally falling down.

Further uphill are more of the wells. A number of Pergolas have been built for the comfort of visitors. You notice a lot of foreigners sunbathing.

Lunch time. Good thing we brought our picnic items with us.

Halfway down the hill is another nice picnic spot. Here, you get to see the waterfall.

Downhill are more pools but should only be attempted by adults as the path is a bit challenging.

After three hours we had a good time and it is time to go to another location.

Trip to Penang Island & Hard Rock Hotel - Day 3.1 - The morning before checking out

After breakfast and seeing the kids are safely in the pool, I decided to walk around the hotel to take some photos of the resort. In the foyer is a large collage of the Beatles.

From the beach front, you can see the signage of the Hard Rock Hotel. Note the hotel is low rise, only 6 floors high. The best rooms are on the ground floor as you have direct access to the pool from your individual balconies.

The pool that fronts the hotel covers the whole length of the hotel. There are deep end, shallow ends, water slides for kids, some parts have sandy bottoms while others have tiled bottoms. There is a place for every one from oldies, kids, teenager and honeymooners.

I took these few pictures from the roof of the Kids Activity Centre and the gym. Nice open space with deck chairs. From here you can see the beach.

The beach. Relatively clean but not so the waters. Also, need to be careful as activities such as ATV riding as well as parachute towing is common in the area. You can just see a few jet skis waiting for customers.

At the center of the pool complex is the bar and on the bar's roof are bronze statues of the Beatles - life size!

At the entrance, a very nice electric guitar post box.

Behind the car foyer is a huge bronze guitar and logo.

On the right of the hotel foyer is the main entrance of the Hard Rock Cafe. Here, the statue is marble and fashioned after Abraham Lincoln's statue in Washington. However, it is the King of Pop, Michael Jackson that is sitting.

Beside the complex is a small bungalow which houses all the merchandise under the Hard Rock banner called "The Rock Shop".

That weekend, a foam party was scheduled.
