My Dubai Trip - Part 5

The Syeikh Zaid road is the Jalan Sultan Ismail for Dubai. A very straight road with important buildings on both sides of the road. As you as can see from the picture below, the buildings are mostly modern and built post 2000.

Below is the picture of the Emirates Towers which consist of an hotel as well as an office building. I believe the ruler of Dubai's office is in the office tower.

The designs from the buildings comes from many sources and inspiration. The picture below shows influences of the "Big Ben" of London as well as the Empire State Building in NY.

The most futuristic building for me is the metro station. Dotted along the Syeikh Zaid road, it looks like a sleeping turtle.

Dubai is a rich country. The train station is fully air-conditioned (which is good considering the temperature is already 39C!).

Unlike an underground metro, the rail is above ground. Therefore, passengers must go up an escalator to the station from ground level.

Even if you are on the opposite of the road to the station, a walkalator will still be provided to cross the busy street.

The traffic jam below.

Interestingly, the lady at the ticket counter was a Malaysian.

Another interesting feature of this metro system is that they have first class. One coach will be blocked as a first class coach while the rest will be like any regular metro type coaches.

See how straight the rail track is.
