My Dubai Trip - Part 14 - The final adventure

Continuation from http://meoramri.blogspot.com/2010/05/my-dubai-trip-part-13.html.

After a fruitful business trip, it was time to head for home. Just my luck I got a window seat facing the city as the plane took-off.

From this picture you can see that the Dubai of splendor is relatively small. Everywhere else looks similar like any small city on earth.

Below is an even better picture to reflect that view. All the modern towers are concentrated in the centre of town.

The port is also relatively not as impressive as expected (from the air). Even Port Kelang looks more impressive.

However, here is where you will suddenly realised the wealth of the nation. If you look closely to the picture below you will see two green patches (in the centre and slightly to the right). If you double click on the image to enlarge it, you will see that the centre green patch consist of 3 separate properties while the one on the right is just one property. I was on a plane flying 10,000 ft off the ground. Using simple geometry, the average property size for the small one is about 10 acres while the bigger one is 30 acres.

A closer picture of the bigger property.

But then, I saw this particular property that is at least 50 acres big. Double click on the picture and you will see a swimming pool that is more that 250 meters long. All this to serve one family!!!

The point to note here is that money does do a lot. In the middle of the desert, with expensive piping and water desalinating plants, you can green a wasteland. You can also create your own mini kingdom.

Anyway, this is the last of my Dubai postings. I hope you enjoyed it.
