One major attraction in Melaka is the rotating lift at the centre of town - the Menara Taming Sari. You can't miss it. There is a reception area where you can get your tickets and queing to go up the lift is through an airconditioned building. The building is unique as it uses a lantice structure for its roofing. A picture of the roof is shown below. (At the end of this blog is the links to other postings relating to this trip to Melaka)
The queue. Quite comfortable.
The circular lift sits about 70 people. Each has his or her own seat and looks out towards the horizon. Here you can see the passengers getting comfortable before the start of the ride.
As you slowly move up the pole, you can see the shops around the square.
As this lift rotates, everyone gets to see all 360 degrees of view. Below is the view of the building I queued in earlier.
You can now start the see the wooden Portugeues Sailing Ship.
Al Famosa hill.
The great mall of Melaka.
Developments along reclaimed land. On the right is the Holiday Inn that I stayed in. All walking distance to each other.
