USA Trip 2013: Part 1.3 - Checking in Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel, Anaheim California

[See previous postings]

After 14 minutes wait, the bus arrived to take us to our hotel, Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel in Anaheim California. As this was noon time. Some heavy traffic was expected as the journey took about 40 minutes. The time takes into consideration the stops along the way.

Son spending time looking at his game console instead of looking out of the window.

The is bus on this route every 15 minutes. The bus that we were on was quite empty. Another family was also present to got to another hotel.

After a number of stops around the various terminal at LAX, the bus finally entered the freeway heading towards Anaheim. From the highway, I saw the sign "Tesla" on top of a huge factory. I wondered whether this is the famous Tesla car factory.

Approximately 30 minutes later, we were out of the freeway. Then I saw the sign - "DISNEY". We have finally arrived.

After disembarking from the bus and getting our bags in order, I headed towards the front desk of the hotel to check in. The lady that served me was elderly and she told me that she visited Kuala Lumpur when she was in the Women Auxiliary of the British Army (this indicated how old she is!!)

The Paradise Pier Hotel is a 3-Star hotel. The services are basic but a comfortable hotel to rest. Although there are 5-Star hotels in Disneyland, we decided against those hotels as we will be out most of the time anyway. What we need is just a simple yet comfortable and above all else - close to the action.

Once registered in, we were allocated room 516. This is just a room that can fit 5 people nicely.

There were two queen size beds as well as a sofa bed for the 5th person.

Everywhere in the room, obvious symbols of Disney can be found. From the bed runners (Mickey Mouse famous 3-ring silhouette, to pictures on the walls as well as the fittings in the room.

A reproduction of an old Disney poster on Donald Duck....

This poster looks so cool. With the right framing, it looks sophisticated.

The sofa-bed (before conversion). Note the standing lamp shaped like a surf board with the famous Mickey Mouse silhouette on it (the name of the hotel is a dead give away to its sea/surfing theme).

Painting on the wall with reference to the sun, sea and sand...

I love the table lamps in the room. There were two lovely ones. The first is shaped like a lighthouse...

...the second is shaped like a Life Guard station with a miniature Mickey Mouse on duty. If transportation was not an issue would have bought these at the Disney shop.

A closeup of Mickey...

From our room window, we can see Disney California Adventure Park, just across the street. It is about 2:00 pm when this photo was taken.

A flat screen TV with multiple channels was also available.

A small writing table as well as a pull-out table underneath it. The mirror has a very nice sun burst design.

The skirting at the bottom of the bed is just for show. It is a solid wood paneling surrounding the beds. Good idea actually. Makes it easier on the cleaners as they don't need to vacuum under the beds as well as for the guest as it eliminates the possibility of losing stuff or have things kicked under the beds.

The toilet has all the necessary facilities - bathtub, showers, WC etc.

After resting for about two hours, we decided to walk around to find food for dinner. The drawn curtains. Very marquee like.

To be continued.
