USA Trip 2013: Part 1.2 - The transit in Narita and arrival at LAX Airport

[See previous postings]

Got the chance to watch "Resident Evil" and "Lord of the Rings: Two Towers". Dozed off for a short time before it was time to land at Narita. It was about 7:00 pm, local time. The terminal was practically empty.

Although the transit was just for one hour, Narita was nice enough to allow passengers to stretch their legs in the terminal.

First thing on Japanese soil, the toilets!

The airport shops are still open but we didn't get a chance to look.

My son still can't believe that he is going on this trip. So cute.

Anyway, we were in Terminal 2.

He was so happy that he did helpful things without being told like help push the bag trolley. Love that boy. Just after this picture was taken, the trolley fell on him as he was trying to balance on it. Boys will be boys!

The weather in Japan was about 5 degree Celsius. Cold!

Our gate was 88. The girls using free wifi.

Not a full flight to America. The flight was schedule to depart at 8:10 pm local time.

Back into the plane. Again, no one was seated next to my eldest. Anyway, while flipping through MAS Inflight Magazine, saw this interesting article about a new trend in beachwear originating out of China - facekini - a bikini for the face!

This time the sky was overcast. Was told that we were flying inside the Northern Gulf Stream. A flight time of 10 hours was expected.

Was able to sleep for the first 5 hours of the flight. Watched the in-flight entertainment. The journey was very bumpy all the way and every hour or so the crew had to announce everyone must strap into their seats (including the crew). Nevertheless, after 10 hours the cost of California was sighted and we started our descent to LAX.

Los Angeles is a sprawling city. Note the lack of tall buildings as this is an earthquake prone area.

Touchdown.

Hopefully no problems with immigrations, customs and security.

Surprisingly, no issue with the regulators. The bags were all accounted for. Stopped at the toilet.

While waiting, I observed that the airport looks congested. I realised the lack of a high ceiling makes it feel claustrophobic. Unlike in KLIA where the terminal is like a cathedral!

Los Angeles!!!

After pushing our bags to the curb where the buses stop, we waited for the specific bus that would take us to our hotel in Disneyland. Was told the next one will arrive is approximately 14 minutes time.

Expansion of the terminal complex appears ongoing.

Some parts of the terminal were cordoned off.

To be continued.
