USA Trip 2013: Part 1.1 - The start of the flight to California

The day of departure has arrived. The whole family is going to Disneyland, Anaheim California for two weeks. First, check the local weather. Temperature looks fine. Some wet weather expected but otherwise sunny or just downcast.

Kids have all packed and ready to go.

Took the ERL to KLIA Airport. Luckily, in-laws were able to help with transport from the house to the train station. Approximately 7 am in the morning and the coach was empty.

For this trip, I decided to take my Suunto watch with me. Its light and made out of plastic. Shouldn't trip the scanners.

My son was so excited to go. Only needed to ditch school for 6 days (the rest were public holidays).

We got our boarding passes at the train station already so there wasn't any rush to check in (bags were taken by MAS at the train station itself).

After converting some money to US currency we went straight through immigrations.

From the main terminal, we need to get on-board another train (Aerotrain) to go to the satellite terminal.

There was time to kill before the flight so we a simple breakfast at Burger King.

From where we were sitting, we could see some of the planes parked at the terminal.

At the departure lounge, we waited for the boarding process to commence. The flight was MH92 with a stop-over at Narita.

The loves of my life.

The plane was a B777. The window seats in economy class sits two. We got 3 window seats. My son sat with me while my eldest daughter set alone. She was lucky as the flight was not full so no one sat next to her.

My second daughter.

Beside our plane was a Jetstar.

Moving away from the terminal.

Got a chance to see MAS A380 on the tarmac. Pity MAS didn't allocate an A380 to the US sector. Love to have the chance to fly in one.

Climbing up to cruising altitude. Putrajaya in view.

Flight information plotting our course over a map of Malaysia. Flight time 6:05 hours to Narita, Japan.

Cruising altitude. Carpet of white clouds and blue sky.

To be continued.
