Switzerland trip - Day 4 - An afternoon on Mount Titlis

This is a continuation of my last entry on my Switzerland trip a few weeks ago (Switzerland trip - Day 4 - A relaxing walk in the snow in the early morning & a visit to a cheese making factory).

In the afternoon, we went up Mount Titlis on the cable-car. The weather forecast and advice by the local indicated to us afternoons are the best time to make the journey. To get up the mountain, we need to use three types of cable-cars.

As you can see, it is very misty at the bottom of the valley. The ground temperature was -11 degree Celsius!

However, if you look up in the sky, there are hardly any clouds and the sun in shining.

What a magnificent mountain range.....

In the picture below, you can just about make out a few skiers going doing the hill. As this is a working and schooling day in Switzerland, there is hardly anyone. So, Malaysians, early February is the best time to head towards the Alps; there is no crowds and you can get good bargains.

Me and my daughter on the first set of cable-cars.

Another set of beautiful sceneries.

Once you are out of the low cloud cover, the view is breathtaking.

Once we arrived at the top, we saw an entry to a glacier cave. We immediately went in. As you can imagine, we are in a massive block of ice! Below is my daughter in the passageway.

The whole family.

Below is something interesting that I would like to share with all Malaysians. At the start of the tunnel, there is a pedestal full of buttons where you can choose to play songs from a few countries. Please note that on the bottom, there is a flag of Malaysia!

Took this picture of the latest set of Swiss Army knifes. See (Swiss Army Knife - a must have for everyone) for more on this.

At the top of the mountain, the weather was very nice, just -7.5 degrees Celsius, warmer than on the valley floor. I was told that the low cloud cover reduces the temperature further while at the top, you have the sun to warm you up.

Small crowd.

My kids walking to the Ice Flier ride.

This is one scary ride. The wind blowing against the mountain face brings small icicles flying to your face.

The family.

Kids playing small balls but I guess they don't know not to make it so big!

Cloud covered valley.

The point where we are 10,000 feet up.

The cable car station.

When we got down to the valley, there was a light snow storm.
