Jongert Shipyard launched MY Lucia-M, a 39 metres motor yacht type 3900MY. Lucia-M is the first motor yacht of these dimensions ever built by Jongert. The motor yacht line has been developed by the yard at the specific request of several customers who appreciate the design of the Jongert sailing yachts but prefer a motor yacht.

The fast semi-displacement aluminium yacht is owned by a German hotel developer. Folkert Brongers, general manager of Jongert Shipyard, is proud of the fact that two years ago specifically this customer has chosen Jongert. "Lucia-M is his third motor yacht and he is an experienced motor yacht owner. He knew Jongert for many years and when he wanted to have a new motor yacht built, he chose Jongert. In my opinion that’s a huge compliment."

In the past 57 years Jongert has built 325 sailing yachts. The 3900 MY, building number 429, is the first large motor yacht. "This yacht is also a typical Jongert", says Brongers. "The Lucia-M combines the well known Jongert quality with excellent qualities and technical innovations like the glass-bridge and a monitoring system. And just like the 5200M, our latest design in the sailing yacht line, the emphasis is on privacy, luxury, comfort and space. This motor yacht can be seen as the best in its class."
 

The glass-bridge, unlike a normal dashboard, integrates under “one sheet of glass” all controls, data processors and all other instruments required to manage or control a boat. In a glass-bridge the various parts are built-in invisibly under a sheet of glass acting as a flat touch screen. The main advantage is that all control panels of the instruments have the same modern outline. 

The yacht is equipped with several special facilities offering the owner a maximum of comfort and privacy. "The double master cabin is positioned in such a way that the beam of the yacht (7,85 m) is fully used. A huge skylight, which can be electrically darkened, has been fitted over the bath in the master cabin. From his stateroom the owner has direct access to a gym and a steam bath in the forepeak. The semi covered flybridge offers a bar, a lounge and a sun deck. The dodger roof above the flybridge is equipped with glass to keep the space a bright as possible, but also with blinds to protect against the sun. At the rear of the dodger roof is a sliding part that can be placed over the sun deck."

Apart from the 3900MY also a 2400M SY will be launched this year. "Business is going well", says Brongers. "Last year, shortly after the relaunch of the activities by the new management, a foreign customer placed the order for this sailing yacht". During the same period the management and all staff have worked hard to build a solid and efficient organization. Within the new organization the result is clearly visible in the way the contracts are performed: within budget, on time and with the familiar high quality. "We are proud of our team’, reports Brongers. ‘Thanks to the efforts of every single team member Jongert is ready for the future."

Jongert builds both fully custom and semi custom sailing yachts. The focus of the yard is, as always, on the development and construction of sailing yachts. "Jongert is the only Dutch sailing yacht builder with his own range of yachts and has always been top of the line. It is obvious that this is and stays our main activity. The motor yacht line is, of course, also available and will even be extended, but in addition to and certainly not instead of our line of sailing yachts." Furthermore Jongert offers customers, who cannot part from their existing yachts, the possibility of a complete refit.
