Famous hotels in KL are starting to get ridiculous when quoting prices for the lunch buffet. Some reached a high of RM139++ per person! Is it the food that caused them to charge such a high price? No, it is not. What you are paying is the right to brag that you had lunch at such an expensive place.
Try to go to the same hotel but this time on the weekends. You will suddenly see the price being offered close to 50% of the usual weekday prices. Why? This is because, on the weekends, you don't have the business market to maximize the hotel's profits. If they want to get people to use the place, they have to be reasonable with their prices.
The question is: why can't they maintain the weekend price to be the standard price throughout the week?
It is all about supply and demand. More people demand such services on weekdays. So to ensure only a certain number of people get in, hotels must do some price discrimination.
People much change their mindset. If every consumer thinks alike, we can start to force hotels to be more reasonable. We will all gain.
