Resort Review: The Old Smokehouse Cameroon Highland

The Old Smokehouse in Cameroon Highland is a unique Tudor design building with period artifacts and other antiques. The garden is exquisite and coupled with the cold hill station weather; you could easily imagine yourself to be in England during early spring.

It is not a big resort and it would be advisable to book in advance due to the limited number of rooms available. To maintain the rustic charm, all modern conveniences that we would take for granted as being standard in hotel rooms such as television is not provided. For some of the rooms (recommended), the focal point is a fully functioning fireplace (if the weather is cold, do get the hotel staff to prepare a fire). You will never imagine the joy you’ll get being with someone you love while the fire dances in the fireplace!

You would also have the experience of sleeping in a big four-poster bed.

Food is typically English and the high tea is a must. Tea and fresh oven baked scones with homemade strawberry jam are simply delicious.

The view from your window is breathtaking. Do bring a camera to capture the outdoor scenes especially in the morning and during sunset.

Verdict: Do go and experience the resort at least once. I enjoyed my stay there.
