Gold as an investment - Kijang Emas Gold Bullion coin

Recently, I was convinced that the price of gold could hit RM5,000 per ounce by the end of this year. Currently, the price of 1 ounce of gold as dictated by Maybank via the Kijang Emas gold coin list is RM4,268. Therefore, there is a probability of a profit of 17% in just two months.

Based on the last 5 years of gold prices (see graph below), gold prices have reached a support level of USD1,200 per ounce. The likelihood of an upward momentum is positive. Hence the reason why buying gold now is a good investment bet.

So, armed with this knowledge (I could be totally wrong interpreting the data. Since this my own money, I am willing to take the risk), I proceeded to go and buy an ounce of Kijang Emas gold coin from Maybank Bangsar branch (not all Maybank branches provide this service). Below is the coin.

Denominated as a RM200 piece, it is 1 ounce in weight with a gold purity of 99.99%.

The face has the "Bunga Raya" or Hibiscus flower motif while the tail has the "Kijang" or mouse deer motif.

In my collection, I also have a 10 gm ingot by Credit Suisse. At current market price, this is worth RM1,600.

The back.

Another coin gold bullion that I have is the Canadian Maple Leaf 1/4 ounce gold coin. This is currently worth RM1,120.

As big as a 5 cents coin.

All three of them.
