The Westin Resort and Spa Langkawi Kedah

Attended a conference a few days ago at the Westin Resort and Spa, Langkawi, Kedah. The hotel is situated close to Kuah town and next to the Langkawi Yacht Club. I arrived at night and after checking in, I was directed to my room which is situated on the first wing of the hotel.

Surprisingly, to get to my room, I have to walk pass a long corridor of rooms before reaching the set of lifts to the respective floor. I find this weird as it would mean that people staying in the rooms in that corridor will always hear people moving back and forth throughout the day.

Also, the hotel lobby is situated on the top floor and you would go down to the various floors.

When I got to my room, the first impression is that the design style is very traditional with a lot of wood. Mirrors and glass were also used substantially to give the room more depth. Nevertheless, it did show its age and the feeling of "tiredness" can be felt in the room.

A two sitter couch is provided. One thing that I appreciate is the quality of the sheets as well as the pillows. Simply wonderful to the touch.

A large flat panel TV was mounted on the wall and the coffee maker was also prominently displayed. Tea and sugar were placed in the drawers below it.

The room comes with a belcony with a ceiling fan as well as easy chairs.

There is a large window to the bathroom with wooden blinds to cover it.

This is the cupboard (the picture is sideways) with also holds an ironing board, an iron as well as a room safe deposit box.

The bathroom comes with a bathtub...

....a large sink...

.....an enclosed WC.....

....an enclosed showing room with a massive rain shower sprout on the ceiling.

The lobby of the hotel is very woody and bath in a golden light at night. This was the scene in the lobby when I got in that first night.

Early in the morning, after an hour at the gym, I took a stroll around the resort complex. This resort has a very large ground with beautifully cared for plants.

Apart from the hotel block, this resort also provided individual enclosed chalets next to the sea.

The rows of chalets. These would be the more expensive option compared to the standard rooms.

You can just see the sea from when I was standing.

The beach is not that wide. There are trees close to the waterline. The thatch cabin on the right is the hotel's water sports centre.

This hotel has 3 different pools to choose from. The first is the rocky pool seen below.

As you go up towards the main complex, the next set of pools can be found.

The second pool is more of a jacuzzi pool and design specifically for the children in mind.

The final one is the largest and designed like an infinity pool. It also has a bar.

The resort as seen from my floor.

A sculpture on my floor (sideways).

Small islands. This resort is at the southern tip of Langkawi Island.

A place to chill out for drinks.

This hotel could be a good option for families. The hotel is children focus and there are a number of activities (even food) that are given complementary to youngest guests. Moreover, it is close to the main town and you can walk to get there.

Verdict: I could make a trip down to this hotel with my family.
