Double Tree Hotel, Kuala Lumpur - First impression (with photos)

MORE?

A few day after the Double Tree Hotel opened in Kuala Lumpur, I took the opportunity to visit the establishement. I hated the way to the upper level car park. Very sharp turns and you need to go up 5 floors before you get to park your car. The second point that I hated is the lifts that goes down to the lobby. It is situated at the side instead at the centre where it is more obvious. Also, the parking is shared with the commercial area, hence the level of security must be tight for safety. Unfortunately, during my visit, I did not see any visible signs of security.

Before this hotel, it was the Empire Tower Hotel. The lobby and the food outlets are not on the same floor. Despite the major renovation done, the problem still persist. If you want to visit the food outlet, you need to go to Level 11 (if I am not mistaken). Apart for these negatives, the place does look nice.

I also visited the ballroom floor. Very nice corridor. Loads of art pieces on the walls.

The pool area is simple and not that big. There is also an Italian restaurant at the side of the pool.

The ballroom is big and column-less and should be able to take about 800 guests. When I was there, they were testing the lighting.

Modern decor.

Around the pool you can see Jalan Ampang and Jalan Tun Razak.

The Jalan Ampang embassy row.

There is also a small reflection pool.

The toilet has modern fittings and looks elegant.

If you want just a drink of coffee and some savories, they have a small outlet that sell sweet stuff.

The scene at the lobby. Very light with marbles all around.
