Driving shorter distances - bad for the environment!

Myth: Driving fewer miles is good for the environment.

Reality: The shortest distance between two points is not always the greenest.

UPS uses a sophisticated mapping-software system that directs its drivers not to make left turns unless absolutely necessary (in America they drive on the right side of the road). The trucks actually drive a bit farther each day than if they took those left turns, but spend less time idling wastefully and burning fuel while waiting to turn.
