The Good
• The motor is incredibly responsive and emits an authoritative, barky exhaust note. We admire the attention to detail with common fastener sizes for quick maintenance and disassembly. The KTM can supply as much performance as the rider can handle, which can be incredibly entertaining. With street tires, it would be even quicker.
The Not-So-Good
• It feels happiest in max attack mode, when you’re hard on the gas and pounding bumps. When cruising, the long travel suspension is surprisingly harsh, and the narrow, hard seat is not suitable for extended rides. The knobby tires make for a tiny contact patch—road traction is limited.
The Bottom Line
• Brash and intimidating for novices, but has a potential unmatched in this group.
Best Suited For
• Expert or advanced intermediate riders looking to grow into the sport.
