My Dubai Trip - Part 7

(Continuation from http://meoramri.blogspot.com/2010/05/my-dubai-trip-part-6.html)

Just beside Burj al Khalifah sits the biggest shopping mall in the world: the Dubai Mall. As you walk towards it, it does not give such an impression. If you refer to the picture below, it looks (from where I took the picture) similar in size to the Gardens at Mid Valley. However, when you enter the complex - wow!

This is the centre of the complex, a massive man made lake where giant fountains as well as other parts of the mall can be seen.

All along this big lake, there are shops and eateries. What strike me was the number of people out shopping in Dubai. Although this is a Sunday, it is a working day in Dubai and yet, there are throngs of people at the mall.

Surrounding the lake are some beautiful buildings. I particularly like this building (see below). It looks like part of the main battle cruiser in Star Wars episode 6.

Can you believe it that the many small buildings that you see in front of the lake is the Souk or market?! There must be thousand of shops in this complex.

Here is the bridge that crosses the man-made lake.
