I guess all of you may be wondering about this "experiment" that I am studying right now. For your information, I bought a new car in January this year. It is the new Mercedes C200 sedan.
My previous car which I bought in July of 2000 was a Ford Ranger 2.5ltr Turbo Diesel pick-up truck. For the last 10 years, my Ford was able to provide an average fuel consumption of approximately 10ltr/100km. The mileage travelled was 178,000 km.
With the purchase of this new car, this time a petrol powered car, I would like to see the mileage that I can achieve throughout the ownership experience of the car. Hopefully I can answer the question whether petrol is better than diesel.
On 12 March 2010, I topped up the car with petrol and the following statistics was recorded:
Travelled: 599 km
Consumption: 9.7 ltr/100km
Engine time: 17:39 hr
