MPH Book Carnival at PICC, Putrajaya

Over the weekend was a huge MPH book carnival at the PICC centre in Putrajaya. Went there to grab some bargains.

Bought tons of books. My son all tired out.

Victorinox Swisscard Quattro - a pocket tool; bought in St Andrews, Scotland - Unboxing

I was in St Andrews, Scotland last week. I walked into a store and came across this interesting credit card sized Victorinox tool set. Called the Swisscard Quattro, it comes with 13 features. The gift box set was also ingenious and the whole package was just UK Sterling 16 instead of UK Sterling 22.

The tool is designed to be just slightly thicker than a credit card. It has a lifetime warranty and is something very useful to have.

The whole package is made out of a transparent red plastic and you can see the various bits of tools available.

The back of the tool is devoid of any wording except for the ruler markers on the top edge of the tool. This tool can measure up to 4 inches.

Refund by Amazon for a delivery of a book that is not of a certain standard

A few months ago, I bought this book from Amazon. It came is a big box. However, the box was way to big for the book and you can feel and hear the book being tossed around the box when handling it.

When I opened the box, my worst fears were realised. The book was damaged.

There was a big tear at the spine of the book.

The inner lining of the cover was also torn.

All the corners of the book were dented.

There were scuffing marks along the edge of the books.

I made the complaint and withing a couple of hours Amazon replied that they will refund the whole cost of the book (including the courier charges). Instead of asking me to return the book, they gave me permission to do whatever I want with the book.

The best place to keep things safe is in a bank vault. So get yourself a safe deposit box

A lot of people ask the question, "Where best to keep things safe?". Some would argue a safe bolted to a wall or floor at home is sufficient. I personally like to leverage on the facilities provided by banks. The rent is so much cheaper than buying a safe outright and the security is first class. Moreover, there is some form of basic insurance thrown into the rental as well.

Below is a shot of my bank's vault (location: confidential).

Here is my safe deposit box. Two feet long and 10 inches wide with a depth of 5 inches. More then sufficient to keep most of your valuables safe.

My first transaction via EBAY

I became an EBAY member back in 2005. However, since then I have not made any transaction, until now. Back then, I couldn't get the comfort of any transaction being successful.

Over the years, I have made a number of internet transactions and most were successful. Those that were not successful I was able to get a full refund.

Earlier this month, I tested EBAY by transacting something with a small value, an antique Citizen watch that cost me only 25 Sterling Pound. After slightly a week, I got it.

I didn't know that crayon can burn like a candle. This particular trick is very useful if you are into barbequeing and have a lot of broken crayons all over the place. Instead of just throwing them away, you can use it to do one final favour!!!
