I own a secondhand Motorola T5100 Two Way Radio. They have served me for a couple of years now. Unfortunately, one of them cannot transmit now as one of the batteries leaked acid onto the electronics. It can still receive transmission though.
Moral of the story: if you have any electronic equipment that uses disposable batteries and you intend to not use it for some time time, remove the batteries.

That's too bad about your two way radio. But you definitely gave some wise advice. It's so easy to overlook something as small as removing your batteries from long range walkie talkies, but it can make a huge difference when you use them again. Thanks for sharing your story to help others avoid the same mistake.
