First impression of the new Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Over the weekend, I got the opportunity to visit the new Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Previously an abandoned old colonial building that used to house the National Art Museum (at one time), it was taken over by the YTL Group to bring back life and give a distinctive flavour of colonial ambiance to the hotel scene in Kuala Lumpur.

The Christmas decorations were still up and it brought out the festive feeling to the hotel when you step in. At the centre of the lobby stands a tall Christmas tree.

On the ceiling of the lobby hands a large light fixture that looks very grand.

I tried the Contango Restaurant. This is supposed to be the 'coffee house' for the hotel. When I was there, they offer a buffet dinner for RM88 per person (RM44 for children between 3 - 12) which I find reasonable because the spread also includes all kinds of fresh juices, oysters, cod fish (grill to order) and a Japanese sushi bar with all the trimmings.

Below you can see the various stations where you can see the chefs doing the cooking based on the specialty of that particular station.

This is a wider shot of the main lobby.

This is the waiting area around the main lobby.

The the side of the main lobby is a set of escalators that allows you access to the first floor. Here is where the toilets are situated.

The men's toilet is so stylish. Love the way the sinks are clustered at the centre of the room.

Below is another shot of the lobby from the first floor.

There are a lot of other things to see in this hotel. However, I was only able to explore one restaurant and the main lobby area.

The only comment I would like to make is the parking. Very dusty!
