Stayed at the Shangrila Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand - a short note on the experience

The Shangrila Hotel Bangkok is situated on the river bank of the Choa Phraya river. A huge complex comprising two main towers. The hotel itself is situated in the new wing whereas the old wing houses a sister hotel of a lower standard.

Below is a photo of the hotel lobby.

I got a room on the 18th floor of the hotel. It came with two single beds and a couple of lounge chairs. The concept is a mixture of old and new.

A large mural depicting Thai mythology in the bedroom.

Warm woody feeling.

Georgian style bathroom with wallpaper.

Separate shower cabinet.

The shower cabinet has an opaque glass block wall that faces into the room.

The view from the 18th floor is awesome. You can see the river and the sprawling city.

Observed heavy river traffic. The city uses the river as part of its transportation network.

Below is part of the hotel complex. Note the solar heat exchanges on the roof for hot water. Very green.

Note the heavy traffic on the bridge. The famous Bangkok traffic jam.

This is one of the many corridors in the hotel.

One thing I find interesting is the proximity of the hotel to other buildings. Just 5 meters away, you can find very old dilapidated buildings standing side by side with the hotel.

Another art piece. A wooden carving.

Overall, a very nice hotel.
