Business building strategy for Malaysia

I think I have the best strategy to guide Malaysia away from the collapsing world economy. The answer is so simple and is something that we have been doing time and time again. We just need to build something big, at least useful but most of all it must be something expansive. Below is a list of items that the authorities should look into:

Double-decking of the Federal Highway, from Mid Valley/Angkasapuri all the way down to Klang;

This project should be done using the public/private initiative concept. Cost should be borne by the Government but the development should be handled by the private sector. Upon completion, there should be another independent operator to manage the road and a minimal toll would be required for the whole stretch of road, say RM1/-.

Riverside city along Sungai Gombak and Sungai Kelang;

Initially, there was a project of this nature a few years ago but it was abandoned due to economic conditions. I propose the Government to set up a consortium of the biggest and richest construction companies in town to join forces to do this job. This will be a pure private initiative. The benefit for the Government is that it effectively creates a valuable real-estate from air. Costs will be borne by this consortium. It will beautify the city as well as adding in a new attraction. By the time it goes on line, the economy will be on an upswing and it will help the economy grow tremendously. To defray some costs for the consortium members, the project entity should be allowed to list on Bursa Malaysia under the infrastructure listing guidelines. This will allow more Malaysians to be engaged in this project.

I do have more ideas. I may write on them soon.
