Malaysian Politics: Road signs

The latest development in the argument against Penang state government in putting up roads signs in other languages is getting out-of-hand. It is important that Penang respect the sanctity of the national language (both Bahasa and English).

Arguments by DAP strongman, Lim Kit Siang that Jawi is a foreign language is a misconception. This is because Jawi is not a language but a form of script which have been used in the Malay archipelago hundreds of years before the Roman alphabets became the standard scrip.

In this particular case, I hope the Federal Government put its foot down and ensure the national language concept is retained explicitly.
