"The Edge Daily - The government is mulling the option of taking over highway concessions from private operators as part of its efforts to reduce the burden of toll on the people, said Works Minister Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed."
Financially this will be a burden to every Malaysian in the long run. Why should someone, who does not own a car subsidizes the toll rate of an expressway user? This is not fair.
The cost of the expressways are in the billions. If we were to value the economic potential now, the cost to the country will be enormous and certain individuals will be rich beyond imagination. I say, remain as it is. If the Government is concern with the rising cost of toll rates, it would be best if new competing roads are built or improve the private transportation system. this will give alternatives to users.
