Planning my training for the Putrajaya Night Run
Yesterday got the golden opportunity to talk to a veteran runner. After one hour of conversation, I got a number of very interesting tips.
Tip 1: Make sure you have the correct running shoe. It must be able to support the shape of your feet. Otherwise, you will get tired easily and can cause injury. The important take-away here is that, cheap running shoes have limitations! Good running shoes requires experimenting.
Tip 2: Always have a goal. For example, one must aim for a 6 min per Km speed. In one hour, a runner must be able to cover 10 Km.
Tip 3: You must rest between runs. Otherwise the lactic acid in the muscle will accumulate too much and there could be trouble.
Tip 4: Hydration is important. Plain water is sufficient.
Tip 5: Eat normally.
Tip 6: Sleep at least 5 hours a day.
Tip 7: When running, always monitor your heart rate. Do not try to over due it.
